Shuttles are a required tool for net making and net repair. Shuttles are used to store and dispense the twine as it woven through the net and knots are tied.
Shuttle size is determined by the size of twine you are using and the mesh size of your net.
A netting needle or a netting shuttle is used to hold thread and move it through the holes (commonly called meshes) that make p the netting. A netting needle is used to hold thin thread like crochet thread and a netting shuttle is used to hold thick threads like rope or cord. There are many different sizes and styles to choose from and they can be made from wood, metal, or plastic.
You will want to choose the longest one available that will fit through the meshes. You will want to fill it as full as possible, but not so full that it won’t go through the meshes. Doing this, you will reduce the number of times you have to join thread ends from your newly filled needles to those of your current project.
